A donation to FRIENDS during this Challenge Match will automatically be doubled. The FRIENDS Board of Directors will match dollar-for-dollar all contributions from now until May 31, 2020, until contributions reach $10,000.

COVID-19 and Governor Walz’s stay-at-home order has meant the cancellation of a number of our events for the remainder of our 2019-2020 season:

    •  Six Kinder Konzerts
    • Three Meet a Musician/ACCENT programs
    • Our annual fundraising event, It’s in the Bag!

Cancellation of It’s in the Bag! is the most devastating to us because proceeds from this event subsidize more than half of our Kinder Konzerts programming each year — programming that reaches over 6,000 young children, their parents, and teachers each year. Participation in Kinder Konzerts gives our young visitors the unique experience of being at Orchestra Hall, trying orchestral instruments in our Sound Factories, and being on-stage to hear a concert played by Minnesota Orchestra musicians. The centerpiece of this event is a FRIENDS-commissioned composition set to a children’s story.

On the brighter side:

  • Kinder Konzerts and Kinder Konzerts on the Road, the latter bringing programming into schools, are being fully scheduled
  • An exciting new season of Meet a Musician/ACCENT is well underway, with musicians eager to headline for us when we are able to gather once again
  • It’s in the Bag! is now planned for mid-April, 2021. Final plans are taking shape, and we’ll be able to share the new date with you very soon

While we look ahead with hope for a new season, we must tell you that we are experiencing unprecedented deficits caused by COVID-19.  FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra is in need of your help as never before.

We are asking you to be one of our champions and help us reach our Challenge Match goal. Your gift means we can help keep the music playing. Give now and have your fully-tax-deductible donation matched during this special campaign.

Every gift matters. We thank you for your support during this time of unusual need related to the effects of COVID-19.
